Maddie and Tae – “Die From a Broken Heart” (cover)
Maddie and Tae have long been an inspiration for me when I’m songwriting. “Die From a Broken Heart” is so simple, so eloquent, and expresses a point in time that everyone will face at some point. It’s one of those songs that sticks with you for a few days and really takes on the notion of “coming of age” – with heartbreak being on the many pieces that transitions you to adulthood. At the same time, still needing your family to lead you when you can’t lead yourself. This reflects so much of the story I’m getting ready to tell myself.
